When we dove at Grotto point where keeps one of the most beautiful hard corals in Anilao on 27 April 2015, we found many crown of thorns. We prepared and called some volunteers to remove the crown of thorns to save corals on that dive site.

Remedy
1) Effective use of tongs
Each diver has one tong and 1 stick to get crown of thorns attached under table corals or in hard coral.
For the next mission, will make tongs made from 9mm lion def bar.
2) Use sacks and basket at the same time.
Considering the result of test taking on April 27, swimming up basket up to surface seems to be a heavy work. I prepared to basket to be pulled off with a rope and cement sack where boatmen will transfer crown of thorns from the basket.
It appears that the crowns of thorns are so many that this way takes so long time. We change way to use cement sack as well under water, which has danger for dive to be pricked by them.
For the next mission, we will use following procedure.
Use about 50 cement sacks. One diver holds 1 sack and gather crown of thorns. Put bags tougher at a gathering place under water. Runner diver will bring them to under the boat. Hook to a rope and boat men will pick it up.
We will use baskets as assist as well.
3) Volunteer snorkeler has to wear life vest.
4) Next mission will be on 18 May 2015 Monday.
